Breakfast is laid out and ready for you and you can come in at whatever hour you choose; at 6 a.m., if you are heading out to the Brimfield Fair, you can grab a grapefruit juice, a croissant and a great cup of coffee, with a bagel and cream cheese and a hardboiled egg sandwich or a peanut butter and jelly for mid-morning on the road. Or at noon, because you love-birds have slept late, creeping down early to nibble on the fruit and bring your dear one a muffin, and coming down together for the real deal when you both are up. You’re pleased; there is no set check-out time at the Lathop House B&B!( If other guests are checking in to your room, however, we will need it by noon.)

The Lathrop House B&B’s “signature dish” is fruit, lots of luscious, ripe and exotic fruit. There’s bananas, apples and shaved almonds on the sideboard with the cereals, of course, and then on the table gorgeous platters of melon, kiwi, pineapple, papaya and mango to make you dream of the tropics, even when the snow is falling outside on the rose garden. Or you might enjoy a compote of prunes and apricots simmered with a cinamon stick to top your yoghurt or oatmeal, or a bowl of rhubarb or a half grapefruit to pucker you awake. Chocolates, granola bars and fresh flowers, of course, wait for you in the room when you arrive.

Along with fruit, there will be muffins, crusty triple raisin bread loaves from the farmer's market, english muffins and bagels, cream cheese and a variety of other cheeses, jams, honey, peanut butter, Nutella and hard-boiled cage-free eggs to satisfy the protein-aware, two kinds of juice, coffee and teas and cream, milk and skim for the holier-than thou. All served on a variety of vintage and European tablecoths, amusing tableware and sparkling, elegant glassware, unique serving dishes, and flowers, lots of flowers, from the garden or the hothouse, which is our home, the Lathrop House B&B in Springfield!

Spin some 45's while you munch!

Paper and plastic ware are provided for your takeout or delivered meals, so as not to create more chores and to spare anxiety for our Kosher and Halal guests.
